Oil and Wax Mixed Media In Person

Current in-person workshops are concerned with the use of a variety of materials, collage papers, drawings, oil paint, cold wax medium and oil pigment sticks.  Techniques for using these materials allow students to expand ideas and create related works in a series

Ballinglen Arts Foundation offers a rare opportunity to make artwork in beautiful, relaxing location in the company of fellow artists. This workshop/retreat includes instruction in oil and cold wax techniques with a focus on the unique natural environment of beautiful County Mayo in north western Ireland. A New Workshop Focused on Identifying and Developing Elements of Your Personal Style

This is a free wheeling mixed media drawing/collage/painting/printmaking workshop. Artists will bring materials they want to work with as well as choose from materials provided . We'll focus on creating work in a series with an eye to expressing a strong personal style. Intermediate-Advanced. Online Abstract Drawing Classes:

General Information: 

Drawing classes use Zoom for weekly meetings and the Padlet app to give students a way to share work and access drawing examples, artist links and videos. Padlet is easy to use and requires no special computer skills. Each class has its own Padlet class page with seperate sections for each student's work, allowing us to share images for viewing and feedback.

Padlet Drawing Resource Pages tailored for each class feature a wide range of contemporary drawings, artist interviews, videos and links.The Abstract Drawing Materials Page includes resources for dry, wet and wet/dry drawing materials as well as useful papers and sketchbooks. 

Class format includes weekly discussion of a contemporary art video, brief in-class drawing exercises and presentation of individual new work with feedback. Each class is recorded for later viewing if needed. Class size limited to 12. Each class is recorded for students who have to miss a session or would simply like to review.

limited to 12 students

How and why is drawing different in the 21st century? This class looks at changing ideas about what drawing may be and how the proliferation of drawing materials is changing contemporary drawing art. We'll listen to and discuss interviews with drawing artists, share work and feedback from weekly suggested assignments and play with drawing ideas in class. 

I know that Pacific coast time may be challenging for some students. If the Tuesday time slot does not work for you, please let me know. Wednesdays from 4-5:30 may be an option if there is sufficient interest.
